Chief Of Police
Mr. Rutherford has held the position as the Chief of Police of the City of Woodward since 1990. He served 21 years with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol before retiring in 1990. He has served as President of Oklahoma Association of Chiefs of Police and currently holds the title of Northwest Director. Mr. Rutherford is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Retired Troopers Association, Woodward Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, APCO International, and currently serves on the CLEET Advisory Council for Region 10. He is a member of the 911 Board and Jail Trust Board, as well as an active member of the First Assembly of God Church.
Tony Alexander, Woodward Police Captain
Captain Tony Alexander has served as the Woodward Police Department Captain since 2000. Captain Alexander began his career in law enforcement in 1976 as a Mooreland patrolman. In March of 1977, he transferred to the Shattuck Police Department where he became Chief of Police that same year and served that position until 1979. In June of 1979, Captain Alexander was appointed Sheriff of Harper County serving two successful terms until January of 1989. In February of 1989, he joined the Woodward Police Department working his way through the ranks to his current position.
