Purpose of Position: Located at the West Woodward Airport, this position is under the general supervision of the
Airport Manager. This position requires unskilled to semi-skilled manual labor and an ability to interact in a positive manner with the public and transit pilots. An employee performing this job performs manual labor tasks and mechanical work
for the airport as well as fuel and ancillary sales. Lineman normally works in close contact with other workers, but must be capable of working independently.
Supervision received: Employee performs tasks outlined and assigned by Airport
Manager or his Assistant. Receives written and oral instructions with reference to duties other than those previously assigned. Employee is required to perform routine tasks without supervision. Some work is supervised and reviewed.
JOB DUTIES:
• Learns and applies rules and regulations related to airport operations.
• Maintains excellent public relations with public and pilots.
• Must be able to read and use computerized credit sales equipment.
• Prepares work areas and sites by loading equipment, tools and materials required to perform the work assignment.
• Drives and operates vehicles to perform tasks assigned.
• Drives fueling trucks, truck to clear snow and ice and tugs.
• Washes and cleans vehicles and machinery.
• Fuels various types of aircraft.
• Assists in pumping fuel into storage tanks and fuel trucks.
• Tows aircraft into and out of hangar space.
• Operates equipment required to transact sales related to fueling aircraft and retailing ancillary items to aviation.
• Cleans and maintains the terminal, grounds surrounding the terminal, parking lot, and hangar.
• Monitors the aviation radio for local traffic, answers UNICOM calls, provides information requested, provides fuel, courtesy car availability
and other related information.
• Greets and parks transit traffic and aircraft in need of fuel.
• Checks transit aircraft and offers to wash windshield with or without fuel sales.
• Determines need for maintenance and repair on vehicles
and equipment, notifying the Airport Manager of deficiencies and/or maintenance and repair required. Performs repairs and maintenance as assigned.
• Performs other duties as requested.
Minimum Education and Experience Required:
• Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License
• High School Diploma or GED (This does not apply to students working at the airport)
Necessary Occupational Traits:
• Knowledge and skill in using hand tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of safety procedures in using equipment.
• Ability to successfully accomplish assigned task after receiving instruction.
• Ability to compute numbers and to read with comprehension.
Ability to:
• Perform strenuous tasks.
• Meet the public and pilots and maintain excellent public relations.
• Drive and operate vehicles.
• Use small hand tools and equipment and operate equipment require to transact retail sales.
• Determine need for and perform minor maintenance and repair on vehicles and equipment.
Work in all kinds of weather.
Lift 100 pounds for short periods of time.
